It has the effect of smoothing and softening the look of your skin and minimizing pores, kind of like using a soft lighting filter and Photoshop photo editing software! It makes my face look softer, if that makes sense. Love it, love how smooth it feels on my skin. Don't love the smell (not that it's overly cloying), but it disappears quickly. One bottle lasts a loooong time, as in months and months, because a little goes a long way.

It doesn't tame the lines much, which is likely why the name was changed...I have pink skin...this really doesn't help with that, but does provide a smooth base on which to begin your makeup application...I like it, even at the relatively expensive price as I use loose powder foundation and like the smooth appearance it lends to my makeup. I see zero "brightening" effect...
